Diathermy / Radiofrequency
Diathermy is a non-invasive treatment within physiotherapy, aimed at elevating
the temperature of organs or tissues through radiofrequency electric currents.
It works through two types of biophysical phenomena: electrical phenomena
(applied to acute injuries) and thermal phenomena
(applied to subacute and acute injuries).
We aim to produce an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-edema effect,
thus accelerating the tissue regeneration process where
a proliferative effect of stem cells occurs.
Through this technology, we can:
● Regenerate tissue
● Reduce pain
● Control fat accumulation and reduce cellulite
● Reabsorb edemas and effusions
● Prevent erosions of internal origin
● Conduct pre-surgical treatments (prevention of hematoma before
surgery) and post-surgical treatments (controlling inflammation
after surgery)
● Help heal wounds
Magnetotherapy
Magnetotherapy is used in physiotherapy to generate magnetic fields aimed
at restoring cellular biochemical balance.
These magnetic fields are produced by low-intensity and low-frequency currents.
It is employed in a variety of conditions, especially in musculoskeletal injuries, and
more specifically in bone pathologies such as fractures, fissures, osteoarthritis,
arthritis, or osteoporosis, among others.
It is a non-invasive treatment, as the magnetic fields emitted by the solenoid
have a direct biophysical effect on the cell without affecting other organs.
The equipment includes different solenoids that create the magnetic field,
which is integrated into a plastic cylinder.
These applicators vary in size depending on the area to be treated.
Main effects of magnetotherapy:
● Non-invasive and safe therapy
● Compatible with other treatments, so patients do not have to stop their regular medication
● No side effects on the body
● Completely painless sessions for the patient
● Beneficial effects on the body by balancing bio-magnetic poles. The positive pole transmits energy,
while the negative one is anti-inflammatory and analgesic.
Pressotherapy
Pressotherapy involves the application of pressure boots, which, through
several chambers, fill and deflate with air, producing
a massage effect. The goal is to activate the lymphatic system
and improve circulation throughout the body.
The lymphatic system is responsible for cleansing and defending the body,
eliminating toxins, intestinal content, fats, and fighting
germs, infections, and toxic substances. It’s a very
comfortable and natural treatment, growing in popularity due to its simplicity,
effectiveness, and cost.
Pressotherapy sessions last around half an hour and
can be combined with other therapies. Depending on each patient
and desired outcomes, more or fewer sessions may be needed.
Pressotherapy machines offer various personalized programs
tailored to each patient’s needs and morphology.
Benefits of pressotherapy:
● Treatment to reduce fats and toxins.
● Treatment to reduce cellulite.
● Treatment to reduce varicose veins.
● Treatment to decrease fluid retention.
● Treatment for edema and lymphedema.
● Post-operative treatment after liposuction.
TENS (Electrostimulation)
TENS currents are used in physiotherapy for transcutaneous
nerve stimulation to relieve pain,
speed up recovery processes, and improve patients’ quality of life.
It is used for conditions such as knee osteoarthritis or
lower back pain, as it can be applied to a wide range of
pathologies with few contraindications for the patient.
The equipment works by placing electrodes on the affected
area of the body. Depending on the condition being treated,
intensity, frequency, and time can be adjusted to activate a
series of beneficial effects in the treatment area.
Using TENS currents to reduce pain is due to their ability
to inhibit the pain signals that reach the brain,
thus reducing the sensation of pain and naturally providing relief without medication.
Finally, TENS is a very safe and easy-to-apply current, and,
considering the clinical conditions where it is contraindicated,
it is one of the most widely used forms of physiotherapy by all physiotherapists.
